NOTICE OF RACE – 2012 Laser Crab Claw Regatta and Laser District 11 Championships
September 22 and 23, 2012
1 RULES:
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) and the International Laser Class Association (ILCA) rules.
1.2 The Organizing Authority is Severn Sailing Association in conjunction with Laser Fleet 10 and US Laser Class Association District 11
2 LANGUAGE
2.1 The official language for this regatta will be English
3 FLEET ELIGIBILITY
3.1 All Lasers (Standard, Radial and 4.7s) are eligible race in the Crab Claw Regatta/District 11 Championships. A class must have 6 boats registered to have a separate start. If there are not enough 4.7s registered, they will start with the Radials and be scored separately. Entrants in this regatta must hold a current membership in the International Laser Class Association – North America (ILCA-NA). Please verify your membership at http://www.laser.org/ (Please note that you will be able to join ILCA-NA on the day of the regatta, if your membership is not current, you will be allowed to join ILCA-NA on the day of the regatta.).
4 RISK
4.1 Disclaimer of Liability
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. Severn Sailing Association, Laser Fleet 10 and US Laser Class Association District 11 will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the regatta.
5 FEES
5.1 Required Fees
Checks should be made payable to “LASER FLEET 10”. The entry fee is $75 USD. FOR ENTRIES RECEIVED BY FRIDAY, September 14, 2012, THE ENTRY FEE IS REDUCED TO $60 USD (EARLY REGISTRATION FEE).
5.2 Online registration is available at www.sailregattas.com
5.3 All payments must be in US dollars.
5.4 All early registrations must be received by Friday, September 14, 2012. Competitors may register early online at
www.sailregattas.com and paying with a credit card or registering online and sending a check for the entry fee to:

6 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
Please note that the SSA clubhouse may still be under construction during the 2012 Crab Claw Regatta. In addition, if the construction is taking place, there will be limited onsite parking for competitors. Traveling competitors will be able to bring cars, boats and trailers onto the parking lot to a designated unloading area, once they have unloaded, they may have to move the car either to street parking or to one of the public parking lots in Eastport. In addition, due to the construction, there may be no hot water for the showers, competitors should plan to shower where they are staying after racing. The dinner and party on Saturday night will be held at SSA, either in a tent in the parking lot or in the newly constructed clubhouse. Food and beverages will be provided at SSA.
6.1 Saturday, September 22
0800-0930 Registration
0930 Skippers Meeting
1100 First warning signal, races to follow.
Dinner and beverages after racing are included in registration fee. Additional dinner tickets are available
for $25 USD
Sunday, September 23
1000 1st warning signal, races to follow. (This changes the SSA Standard Sailing Instructions)
Awards to follow ASAP after last race.
6.2 No race to shall start after 1400 on Sunday. (This changes the SSA Standard Sailing Instructions)
6.3 Seven races are scheduled for the regatta, four on Saturday and three on Sunday. (This changes the SSA Standard Sailing Instructions)
6.4 The completion of one race will constitute a series for the purpose of this regatta.
7 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
7.1The sailing instructions will be available during on-site registration.
8 SCORING
8.1 The Low Point Scoring System, Appendix A2, will be used except as modified below.
8.2 There will be one discard when five or more races are completed.
9 AWARDS
9.1 Prizes will be awarded to:
Standard Fleet: First through Third Place
Radial Fleet: First through Third Place
4.7 Fleet (If enough entries): First through Third Place
